Jeffrey Evergreen is a visual artist and community activist in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He is presently serving as Head of the Printmaking Department at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts' Kirk Newman Art School and was an instructor of drawing & graphic design courses at the Kalamazoo Valley Community College | Center for New Media from 2005-2010. He earned his BFA in Studio Art from Michigan State University in 2004 and has continued to produce and exhibit artwork often.
As a member of community organizations, including the Exquisite Corpse Art Collective, the Southwest Michigan Printmakers, the Kalamazoo Book Arts Center, and the Vine Neighborhood Association, he has worked to bring people together, build relationships, overcome differences, and encourage collaborative action.
The new series of paintings titled 'Prospectus' was supported in part by a grant from the Kalamazoo Artist Development Initiative and first exhibited at the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo in March. He was recently awarded a merit scholarship to attend the Ox-Bow Summer School of Art this summer and is eagerly looking forward to starting the MFA program in Print Media at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in the fall.
