Photographer John McGraw
Lansing, MI based professional fine arts photographer, John McGraw, will have his first gallery showing which will debut on March 2, 2012 at Art Alley in Lansing’s historic REO Town. Art Alley is located at 1133 S. Washington Ave., Lansing, MI 48910. The gallery display will be featured for a six week run. The opening night for the gallery showing will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 7-10 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
The gallery showing on March 2 will feature large format photos signed and numbered by McGraw. All the large format photos will be available for sale, along with small scale photo prints. McGraw will be speaking about his travels around the United States and the process he uses to capture his stunning catalog of original photographs. McGraw comments, "It will be exciting to have people see my photography in a large format for the first time. In these current times, most people see photography on a screen rather than in person. When you see print photography on a large scale in person, it gives it a completely different perspective."
McGraw has been a professional in the visual arts for over 15 years. His high quality photographs feature breathtaking landscapes and unique night time photography. He has traveled extensively around the United States to capture his stunning and creative photos. 17 of McGraw’s photos have been chosen as the featured "Travel Photo of the Day" on CNN.com in the last year alone. CNN.com recognized the artistry of McGraw’s photos by naming his photo of the Chicago skyline as one of the "CNN Top Ten of 2011" and his photo that featured a unique midnight moonbow at the falls of Yosemite National Park was picked by the editors at CNN.com as one of the "CNN Top Five" travel photos in the last five years.
In January 2012, a photo taken by McGraw of the Manhattan Bridge in New York City was chosen as a "Top Ten Photo of 2011" by Shutter Photo Magazine. Shutter Photo magazine editor D. Travis North comments, "John McGraw, does not just capture color. He uses color to control you, to draw you in. He is certainly talented in many forms and genres of photography." Shutter Photo magazine also published an in depth article featuring the works of McGraw in 2011.
McGraw is excited about his upcoming show, "This has been one of the most exciting and enjoyable things I have ever done. I have spent a lot of time and effort into creating these images and I can’t wait for people to be able to view them!"

Timothy UfuomaEfe Orikri - through February 2012
Born and raised in Nigeria, Timothy Orikri moved to the United States after receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts from Delta State University. Through the use of his paintbrushes, this Detroit based artist uses his education and skill to create sublime beauty culminating in a spiritual enlightenment opportunity for the viewer. An awakened conscious emerges as you gaze upon Orikri’s use of strong, bold colors with touches of light and shadows that cause you to linger and absorb what you see and feel. “If I could, I would put on canvas a painting of a better world filled with bliss where we all could experience peace and live in harmony, breathe on it, and bring it into existence,” says Orikri.
Orikri uses art to educate and illuminate our souls. Educating and promoting unity through art, Orikri has brought together children of diverse backgrounds for several different projects, such as the Pyramid of Peace Project, Building a City of Love Project, and the Compassion through Art Project. The purpose of these projects was to promote open communication and build self-esteem through art.
Orikri’s work has been widely exhibited in several prominent museum, colleges, churches and public buildings. He also has permanent displays in Detroit, St. Louis, MO and Raleigh, NC. His exhibit “Absolute Liberty” just ended at MSU where he presented 109 paintings and seven kinetic pieces of art. Orikri also has exhibits this month at the Detroit Athletic Club, and in March at 1917 American Bistro, Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit locations.
Mr. Orikri is available for speaking engagements, mixed media workshops and personal instruction to help educate and enrich others through art. By holding various exhibitions, Orikri hopes that his art expresses meaning, substance, beauty and hope to others through actualizing a new state of awakened conscientiousness.
